Lightning Talk Help

• I want to preface this by noting that lightning talks are nothing to be afraid of, they're not a speech in school where you're getting assessed.
• They really are nothing to stress about.
• The lightning talks exist in the program to allow graduates to pick topics that they know little about and are interesting to them.
• This allows you to expand your knowledge on a broad range of useful skills and topics that may not get covered in the program or to deepen your knowledge further on topics taught throughout the program.

What Makes a Good Talk?

A good talk consists of some key elements:

• Is the talk engaging:
  • Images.
  • Demonstrations.
  • Audience interaction.
• Is everyone getting something out of the talk:
  • Useful topic.
  • Enough depth on said topic.

Potential Topic Ideas

• JavaScript runtime environment.
• Using Vim or nano.
• VS Code and extensions.
• Keyboard shortcuts.
• Docker.
• Typescript type system.
• Node module system.
• Jest.
